On the 29th of June 2009 Constructor Group acquired the Swedish company Resultatkonsult AB, and renamed the company to Constructor Logistics AB. They will be located in Gothenburg together with the group’s other operations in Sweden.
Constructor Group will build a new organization based on the skills and experience from Resultatkonsult AB, where the main focus was to create and analyze logistics solutions in production and warehouses. The main tool is a unique software, connected to data bases of different equipment and working processes, and a simulation engine, enabling to look at alternative solutions and showing cost effects.
The specialist team in Constructor Logistics, will be supporting the other sales organizations within the Group, and thereby enabling these organizations to advise the customers to invest in the most optimum solutions according to their needs. They will be able to analyze the existing set-up and/or create new solutions using the Warehouse Intelligence System (WIS).
In a world of fierce competition where the rules of the game constantly change, it becomes increasingly challenging to differentiate from the competitors in terms of traditional parameters, such as price, product selection and quality, as well as the technological edge and branding. In line with these market conditions, the importance of Supply Chain factors such as time-to-market, delivery time and quality, improved delivery information for the customer and end users, is becoming crucial. Supply Chain Management is today playing the major part in the companies’ fight to win customers, and an efficient warehouse management has become a key issue in order to differentiate from the competitors.
A modern warehouse becomes even more strategically important, but represents equally a complex unit, where state-of-the-art systems, a great number of employees, investment and customer service set high standards for the decisions taken by the management. There are many aspects and interests to consider when implementing changes in this environment. And, not least, very big potentials to gain when optimizing the warehouse.
”When a company implements a WMS or an ERP system, the setup of the system will reflect the warehouse reality from the day when the system was introduced. However, since the world is changing all the time, this original system setup will never remain at its 100 % optimum. Our tool is a so-called add-on programme, which can assist the companies in optimizing the current parameter setup of their WMS or ERP, so that the system continues to reflect reality”, says Ulf Göran from Constructor Logistics.
WIS functions as a control tower or cockpit, which keeps gathering and receiving information from the WMS or ERP system. With this information WIS continuously forms a general view of the traffic pattern and activities of the warehouse. Depending on the setup, the WMS or ERP system can then carry out certain actions at certain times”. It is e.g. possible to check and simulate article positions (ABC), building alterations, potential savings, new working methods, new truck types, education of staff, changes in picking routes and principles etc.
WIS can also be used as an integrated tool which constantly measures the different parameters in order for the right things to happen at the right times.
WIS has a variety of applications customized on the company’s character and requirements. However, the primary value of the tool is to make it possible for the warehouse management and board of irectors to secure an optimum operation of the warehouse, by providing updated data reflecting any changes in the external and/ or internal environment.
WIS is a unique concept and can give added value to the customers choosing storage solutions from Constructor Group.
